A Food Truck
Inside a
CBD Tower Site.

Built are putting up one of the tallest towers in Sydney, at Chifley Square. For their staff appreciation day they wanted hot food for 300 people, on site, in the middle of the city. So we drove the Birdman truck in and parked it underneath the build.

Key Takeaways

  • Built booked our Birdman fried chicken truck for a staff appreciation day on Friday 28 November 2025.
  • 300 serves from an 11am start, with the truck set up inside their Chifley Square site in the Sydney CBD.
  • A short menu to keep the line quick: the Cracker Burger and fried chicken tenders, with chips.
  • They found us on social media and the day was booked within a week.
  • Built left a Google review afterwards. Built have already booked us again for their next staff appreciation day, on 1 October 2026.

The Client

Built is one of Australia's big builders, and the Chifley Square project is one of the largest towers going up in Sydney. Hundreds of people work on a job like that, and Built wanted a staff appreciation day to say thanks to all of them.

They came across us on social media and got in touch. Within a week it was booked.

The Brief

300 serves. Friday, 11am. On site, in the heart of the CBD.

That last part is the interesting one. You can't exactly pull a food truck up to the kerb at Chifley Square and start frying chicken. The food had to come to the crew, which meant the truck had to go inside the site itself.

What We Did

We brought the Birdman truck, our fried chicken brand, and kept the menu tight: the Cracker Burger and fried chicken tenders, with chips. Everything cooked fresh on the truck as people ordered.

A short menu is the whole trick on a day like this. When there are 300 hungry people and a working site behind them, nobody wants to stand around reading a menu board. Good food, cooked fast, line keeps moving.

Built's team organised access, and we drove in and set up right inside the site. Our trucks carry their own generators, gas and water, so we didn't need to plug into anything. Honestly, it was one of the best spots we've ever worked from. Serving lunch underneath one of the tallest buildings in Sydney while it's still being built is not something you get to do every week.

The Result

300 serves out, a happy crew, and a Google review from Built afterwards. The part that matters most to us, though: they've booked us again for their next staff appreciation day, on 1 October 2026.

A repeat booking says more than anything we could write here.

Our construction site catering page covers how we work on live sites, and staff appreciation catering covers the thank you days. If your site is in the city, see food truck catering in the Sydney CBD. And for another builder's story, read how we fed 220 John Holland crew in an hour at Rouse Hill.

Common Questions

Can a food truck cater a construction site in the Sydney CBD?

Yes, as long as there is a spot the truck can physically drive into and park. For Built we set up inside their site at Chifley Square, right in the middle of the city, and served 300 of their team. Send us a Google pin of the spot and we will tell you whether it works.

How many people can you feed at a staff appreciation day?

We served 300 at Built from a short Birdman fried chicken menu. The shorter the menu, the faster the line. For bigger crowds we bring more trucks, and our largest events run well past 1,000 guests.

How far ahead do I need to book a food truck for a work site?

Built found us and had the day locked in within a week. More notice gives you more choice of trucks and dates, especially on Fridays and in the lead up to Christmas, which book out first.

Does the truck need power or water from the site?

No. Our trucks are fully self-contained, with generators, gas and water on board. We need a flat spot with clear access, and about two metres either side of the truck to serve from.

Do builders rebook you?

Yes. Built have already booked us again for their next staff appreciation day, on 1 October 2026, and they left us a Google review after the first one.
